The post you (mom) have been waiting for

We have fallen down on the job lately with our posting. Luckily, this post covers about three weeks and catches us up.

A few weeks ago Ben had to go to Michigan for work.  He visited the capital of Lansing and Detroit.

In addition to working, Ben also managed to squeeze in a Tigers game.

The Angels were in town for a series and the game Ben went to had a "Christmas in July" theme.

Detroit had other scenic areas for the business traveler and tourist.

After 3 days in Michigan, Ben flew back to DC on Friday night.  Kelly and the dogs were happy to see him.  Unfortunately, there was no rest for the weary.  Ben had to work a doubleheader on Saturday.  While Ben was spending a long day at the ballpark, Kelly was playing softball for an Illinois team in the local Big 10 tournament.

Kelly's team didn't do so hot, but at least it got her out of the home before it was too hot.

On Sunday, we caught up on rest and life chores.  Very quickly Monday arrived and with it another work week that came and went.

The following weekend, Ben was still recovering and so we mostly hung out around the apartment.  We made runs to Target and the grocery store, but primarily just caught up on some sleep and watched the British Open.

Somewhere in here the Olympics started.  This was a good thing and a bad thing.  The good is that we thoroughly enjoy the games.  The downside is that on the east coast the TV coverage does not end until midnight.

That took its toll on us over the course of the week.  However, we really felt it Friday night.  We had tickets to go see the band Old Crow Medicine Show.  After work on Friday we went home to walk the dogs and change before heading out.  We had dinner at a sandwich shop called "Fast Gourmet" that was both housed in a gas station and highly recommended.  We were not been disappointed in our sandwiches and will certainly return.

After dinner we walked to the club for our concert.  Unfortunately the show was delayed and the first band started nearly two hours late.  While the show was good, we were exhausted when we finally got home at 2 am.

On Saturday we got up to meet friends who were visiting from Ben's home town.  It was fun catching up and doing a little touring of our neighborhood and DC.  Also, it was a great excuse to get to a restaurant we had been meaning to go to for a while, the Belga Cafe.  Kelly had been once before with her coworkers and had put it on the list for a future visit.  It was delicious and we were all very pleased with the choice.

Saturday evening we took it easy at home and watched more of the Olympics.  Ben also went to the store because he had to work at a game on Sunday.

With the end of the weekend, we prepared for another week of work and watching the Olympics.  We need them to end so we can get back to a normal sleep schedule.
